Ocmulgee Indian Mounds, a park,
known as a local land mark.
Descendant of Creek Indian tribe,
inside the mound on walls describe,
this gallant people of old,
the history of their culture told.
When I walk alone on the trails,
I think of stories and tales,
about Indians I have heard,
I imagine the same birds,
blue jay and cardinals, Red
flew over head.
They felt the same cool breeze;
were shaded by the pine trees.
I recall the time,
My daughter and I climbed,
up the highest mound.
Deer watched us spellbound
transfixed and still,
suddenly they turned around
and disappeared from the field.
